Pastor FRANK J. KNOLTON, SR.
This Man of GOD
The Reverend Frank Jerai Knolton, Sr., was born February 1, 1971 in Detroit, Michigan. He is the 6th of 7 siblings raised in the home of Herman and Carolyn Jacobs. “Jerai” as he is fondly called gave his life to Christ at the age of 13 years old, being baptized and becoming a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church where Rev. Jackson Lee, Sr. was pastor.
Rev. Knolton is the husband of Ladawn Knolton and the father of seven beautiful children: Gwendolyn, Arielle, Dennis, Dominic, Frank Jr., Naomi, and Keovon. For over 17 years, Rev. Knolton has been very passionate about his career as a Community Vocational Liaison with The Therapeutic Rehabilitation Center. He provides support services of various therapeutic disciplines to both children and adults so that they can obtain vocational opportunities and become stable in daily living.
In 1996, Rev. Knolton became a member of First Union Missionary Baptist Church where he served tirelessly as a member of the Board of Deacons, Chairman of Board of Trustees, and with a strong compassion for children, served as a mentor and leader in the Youth Department and community. With this passion and God’s direction, he organized and managed a community gospel choir. This choir provided an opportunity for young people across the city, and of all denominations, to come together in unison and sing praises unto God. It became apparent that Rev. Knolton’s ministry was rooted in demonstrating God’s love through his actions and service towards others.
However, no singing could mask the unsettling calling that burned deeply in the heart of this leader. Rev. Frank J. Knolton, Sr. humbly acknowledged and accepted his call to the ministry in February of 2003 where he continued to serve God’s people at First Union Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Knolton joined Leland Missionary Baptist Church where he was ordained as a minister and became a Son of Leland under the pastorate of Rev. Cecil A. Poe, Ph.D.
In March 2006, Rev. Frank J. Knolton, Sr. became the pastor of First Union Missionary Baptist Church. This dedicated and committed man of God used his gifts to grow the membership and empower and engage his congregation in outreach in the community. He preaches, teaches and leads by example. Pastor Knolton’s love of music is demonstrated through his gift as an accomplished drummer and as a powerful, passionate Psalmist.
On May 21, 2017, Reverend Frank Jerai Knolton, Sr. was called as the 6th Pastor of the Leland Missionary Baptist Church of Detroit, Michigan.
As he continuously seeks God’s direction and wisdom, he remains humble and says, “It is simply my duty as a servant to preach salvation through Jesus Christ to all of God’s people.”
TODAY, WE WELCOME REVEREND FRANK JERAI KNOLTON, SR. SERVANT OF GOD AS THE 6TH PASTOR OF LELAND MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH.
TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!!
