what we believe

Worship

Worshipping God lies at the heart of Christian gratitude and service.  Of all that we do, praise and worship must be central.  Praise and worship is a blessed privilege where we give God our adoration, thanksgiving, and exaltation of Him.  True praise and worship can only be given by those who love Him. Our worship services have reached newer heights in the past years and we look forward to moving even higher.  We are a church where both traditional and contemporary forms of music and worship are combined to give praise and glory to God.

Tithes and Offering

Leland Missionary Baptist Church honors the biblical model for church fund raising.  God instituted the tithes and offering in Holy Scriptures.  The New Testament writers and Jesus Christ, himself, made references to tithing as an appropriate offering unto God.  The biblical foundation for tithes and offering are derived from the following foundational texts:

  • Malachi 3:10

  • Leviticus 27:30

  • 1 Corinthians 16:2

  • Hebrews 7:2,4

  • Matthew 23:23

  • Acts 4:34-37

Christian Education

In 2 Timothy 2:15 we are told:  “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman who needed not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”  Our church provides weekly bible studies to ft various schedules and needs.  Our foundation is our church school which meets every Sunday morning at 9:30 am.  Our Bible Class meets on Tuesday’’s at 7:00 pm for focused (topical) and timed limited bible study.  Every 10 weeks we begin a new series of lessons designed to wed doctrine with practical applications of the word of faith to our everyday Christian lives.  Our Church hosts an Annual Vacation Bible School for our youth and adults.  We also participate in the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education which meets every summer.

Christian Service

Our example of Christian service is Jesus Christ.  He came to seek and save all who are lost.  He served the needs of the masses, the blind, the lame, the deaf, and persons of all afflictions. He is our master example.  It is a privilege to serve God through ministries He established at this church.  It is the missive of every member of this church to honor God by actively serving in the ministries of our church family.
